Can I Use Gaming Mouse For Normal Use?

Gaming mice are generally designed to have much better sensors, extra buttons that can be customized, extra weight in hand for a better feel, and the design of them is usually more appealing. It’s a bit overkill for your regular work, but it’s perfectly usable for normal use.

Are There Any Benefits To Using A Gaming Mouse For Regular Use?

I personally like to use my gaming mouse for normal use. The main reason is that I’m used to it.

The gaming mouse that I use for my work, has many features that help improve my productivity.

The ability to adjust DPI, directly on the mouse, makes it perfect for any Photoshop work that I need to do.

If I’m just moving things around, then I like to have a high DPI.

If I need to carefully alter an image, then I simply click the mouses’ DPI button a few times to drop down to a low DPI.

When editing images in Photoshop, I find that a lower DPI is usually better.

Sometimes, when I’m designing a layout for a website, I might need a lot of precision with the placement of elements.

It is always good to have extra buttons.

A great example of extra buttons is the two small ones on the left side of the mouse.

Right out of the box, they are mapped to my internet browser’s forward and back commands.

This is perfect for quickly scouring the internet when doing research.

I also have two buttons on the top of the mouse that can be mapped to any shortcut that you want.

For example, I’ve mapped them to Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, which allows me to quickly copy and paste things.

Comfort also plays a big part in why I use a gaming mouse for work.

In the end, it’s not just about performance. It’s about how it feels in your hand. A mouse that feels like it is attached to your arm, rather than on your desk is going to help you out more with your work.

When it comes to buying a mouse for work, most people tend to just go for the cheapest mouse that they can find.

The problem with this is that cheap office mice are usually non-ergonomic.

Using these over time can result in wrist or hand pain.

Gaming mice however are usually designed to be held in the same position for long periods of time. This tends to relieve wrist pain.

Many gaming mice also come with a weight system that allows you to adjust the weight to your liking. Some come with adjustable weights already installed in them, while other mice allow you to add more weights to increase the weight of the mouse.

Should I Buy A Gaming Mouse For Normal Use?

It really depends on your personal preferences. There is nothing wrong with buying a regular mouse that has the same features as a gaming mouse.

You should always buy the mouse that you think is going to work best for you.

What About The Price?

In my opinion, the price doesn’t matter much. You’ll spend more money if you choose a gaming mouse, but it won’t be a lot.

The Price Of Gaming Mice Compared To Normal Mice

Gaming mice tend to cost more than normal mice. If you can find a good deal, then you can save a lot of money. But it’s not just about the price of the mouse, but also the quality of the mouse. A cheap mouse will probably be made of poor materials.

Some cheap mice even have a short lifespan.

Conclusion

Well, this is it! Hope you enjoyed this article and learned a few things about gaming vs normal mice.
